Alex Gibson is a Barbadian artist based between Vancouver, BC, and Barbados. They are
interested in investigating queer themes and sentiments in relation to their Caribbean
background, and primarily works in drawing, animation, and painting. Through the exploration
of gender and identity, Gibson’s practice seeks to reveal new/alternate realities of queer
Caribbean potentials, while simultaneously using escapism as a means of self preservation.
Gibson’s works have been exhibited at Tomato Mouse, New York; CBC Arts, Canada; Wil
Aballe Art Projects, Vancouver.
